Charities say scheme will make beggars even more vulnerable and open to exploitation
Jimmy Jansson, a Social Democrat local councillor, said the scheme, which came into force on 1 August after nearly a year of legal delays, was aimed at “bureaucratising” begging to “make it more difficult” for people to ask for money.
TAKING STOCK HOME (August 6)
Those Socialist Swedes are at it again,
messing with the economy.
In any properly free-market country,
beggars are given complete autonomy.
They pay no fees, they do as they please,
in summer they sweat, in winter they freeze.
They don't have to beg if they don't want to eat.
Their freedom's complete. They can die on the street
if they want and their wants are so many.
If they ask for spare change, do not them any.
Let them rot on the spot as Jesus intended.
If you give them money, they'll only spend it
in four-star restaurants and deluxe hotels.
Giving money to poor folk never ends well.
Eating, they breed, creating more needy,
making our cities even more seedy.
But having them pay for the right to panhandle
can only lead to corruption and scandal.
While “post-birth abortion” would surely thwart them,
it's more Christian — and cheaper — to just deport them.
