Mass extinctions periodically wipe
out up to 95 percent of all species...these come
every 50 million to 100 million years...we are now in the middle of the sixth such extinction, this one caused primarily by humans
and our effects on animal habitats...
...we are a part of the biosphere just like every other
creature...our actions are...just as natural.
Characteristically, are we making a fuss
insisting
everything's all about us?
Seeing ourselves in the leading role,
we forget we are but part of a whole.
Individuals,
tribes, nations, species,
with or without us, increase and decrease.
Surely it must be a
comfort to know
we do not call the shots. We're just the ammo.
