№ 712.1: EXTRA! The Well-Trod Path

Trump Cancels Subscriptions to The New York Times and The Washington Post (Paywall)

In 1962, John F. Kennedy, apparently fed up with the coverage of The New York Herald Tribune, decreed that copies of that newspaper would no longer be delivered to the White House. His press secretary, Pierre Salinger, after initially ignoring the president’s repeated requests to cancel the paper, eventually acquiesced and announced that Kennedy would instead read The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

THE GOLD PATE HOUSE (October 25)

Just following President Kennedy's precedent
is what Donnie's doing as White House resident.
Jawboning  businesses and any others
until they back down and he has him his druthers.
If Times  and Post would stop being solemn
and paid a lot to Ivanka for a daily column. . .

Still, Donnie is right. Why should he read
anything, anytime, ANYWHERE  not guaranteed
to confirm his feeling he's better than best
lest he be left bereft and depressed?
(Though his body is agile, his ego is fragile.)
Let's let Donnie do his hat-tip/shout-out
and sit back and watch how it turns out.

№ 555: My Budget Buy The Иumbers (by Donald J. Trump, Genius)

Trump Budget Relies on Up to $1.2 Trillion in Potentially Phantom Revenues
Up to $390 billion comes from taxes created by the Affordable Care Act, which president wants to repeal

Trump’s budget blueprint for the next decade relies on up to $1.2 trillion in revenue that might not materialize.

The budget assumes the government will collect as much as that amount between 2020 and 2029 from taxes the administration opposes or from scheduled tax increases that are likely to draw strong business opposition. The $1.2 trillion estimate comes from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, an independent bipartisan nonprofit.

The numbers don’t add up.
As even I can see.
But, of course, such small details
don't mean a thing to me.
I am, you know, a bankrupt.
I corrupt democracy.
Vlad made it my feudal fief.
(Am I not beyond belief?)

I'm Donald Trump. I eat Big Macs.
I give Liberals heart attacks.
If the Dems get in my way,
“Release the Kraken,” I will say.
I'm looking for the least excuse
to turn my (WELL-ARMED) legions loose.

I can start a civil war.
This stupid job is such a bore,
Boring stuff I do not need.
(Like that crap I “need” to read
that gets me feeling apoplectic.)
Some folks tell me I'm dyslexic.
But that's FAKE NEWS I have to say.
Why won't the Times see things my way?
Might stop them failing then because
that's what Rupert's Journal does.

№ 522.1: EXTRA! A Meeting Of The Mines (an offer that can't be refused?)

In an unusual arrangement, the publisher of The Times, A. G. Sulzberger, joined two of the paper’s White House correspondents in conducting Thursday’s interview, and he took the lead in questioning the president about his attacks on the press.

“I came from Jamaica, Queens, Jamaica Estates, and I became president of the United States,” Mr. Trump said. “I’m sort of entitled to a great story — just one — from my newspaper.”

Hear me out, Sulzberder.
It isn't too late
to cook up a story
saying I'm great.
If you do that
(and soft pedal my crimes)
I will stop saying
@FailingTimes
Then you can ditch
Arab-Mexican Slim
and I will tell Rupert
you'll sell it to him.

№ 418: A Nonny Mouse (or FEAR itself)

A Letter To The Editor of The @FailingTimes:

Dear Editor,
Herewith, let me make clear
that I am NOT  “Anonymous”;
that I never have been — EVER! — in bed
with a RINO
(or a hippopotamus);
that I support conflicting views
of administration's extremist economists
on Federal Reserve forever remaining
(or not)
completely and wholly, entirely autonomous;
that GOP programs on reg-u-lay and tax-ay-tion
with freedom and growth are synonymous;
and that if Trump's trade wars bankrupt our farmers. . .
well, who cares, they're dirt-y agronomists.

Furthermore,
I feel compelled
to say no one's rebelled
against President Trump  —  who's totally swell
and as a leader is unprincipled, er unparalleled.

All the same,
please, don't print my name
lest you aspire to get me expelled.
Sincerely yours,
NAME WITHHELD

No. CXXX.i: EXTRA! Prayer Of Thanks (August 14, 2017)

NYTThe Hate He Dares Not Speak Of (Paywall)

“He didn’t attack us,” crowed The Daily Stormer, a white supremacist website, about Mr. Trump’s statement after the two days of racist demonstrations. “Refused to answer a question about White Nationalists supporting him. No condemnation at all. When asked to condemn, he just walked out of the room. Really, really good. God bless him.

WSJThe Poison of Identity Politics (Paywall)

As so often with Mr. Trump, his original statement missed an opportunity to speak like a unifying political leader.

Let us give thanks unto the Lord
The New York Times' editorial board
is ignored
               along with the (today) infernal
editorial page of THE Wall Street Journal

The president spoke from the White House in an effort to tamp down criticism from Democrats and some Republicans that he had not been forceful enough in his comments Saturday.

To my alt-right pals:
the CAUSE is not lost
when I issued my follow-up
my fingers were crossed

As late as this morning
I thought things were fine
'til Javanka told me:
"Condemn THEM, or we'll resign"

So ignore what I "said"
I think you're beautiful
whatever I "say"
it's business as usual
